FPA Australia welcomes Allen Mitchell

Posted on : Friday, 11 June 2021

The FPA Australia Board has approved a new strategy to improve the advocacy reach of the Association and increase our ability to support our members.  Allen Mitchell

The National Framework proposal will eventually extend our governance in each state and territory, by appointing local representatives who will focus on advocacy.

Our first state manager is Allen Mitchell, who will be representing us in Queensland.

Allen comes to us from Insulated Panel Council Australasia, where he is CEO.  He was also a director of the Building Products Industry Council and a member of the Australian Construction Industry Forum.

He has a long career in the manufacturing industry - ranging from chemicals to construction products -  and has worked in a variety of businesses in Australia and oversees.

He also currently sits on two standards committees relevant to the fire protection industry:

  • FP-018:  Fire Safety; and
  • FP-020:  Construction in Bushfire Prone Areas.

Allen has been tasked with building up our profile in Queensland and continuing our engagement with the Department of Public Works and the Queensland Building and Construction Commission as we seek to extend the timeframes within which practitioners need to become qualified.

He will be supporting our Local Coordinating Committees and other members in addressing local issues, and will be a first port of call for enquiries from members in Queensland.

FPA Australia welcomes Allen and looks forward to appointing more local representatives to support our members at a state and territory level.
